Personal Inspection - Landing page
What information do we hold and how you can get it
Please note that we are not an historical archive or deeds repository and, in many cases, the details we hold will not date back as far as you might expect or would like.
We only hold details from the date of registration. This is the date that the deeds were first sent to us for registration and, in the majority of cases, is shown in brackets before the property description on the title register. If the information you are seeking is prior to the “registered on” date, we probably will not hold the information you require.
We generally only have a copy of the:
- Application form for first registration and list of documents submitted (the documents themselves are returned to the applicant once we have inspected them)
- Documents referred to as “filed” on the register
- application forms, documents and correspondence submitted to update the register at any time after the date of registration
We offer a number of services which may help you find the information you require:
- Search for land and property information to find the title number of a property
- Offical copies of register or plan: registration (OC1) to apply for an offical copy of the current register and title plan
- Historical register/title plan: registration (HC1) to apply for previous editions of the register or title plan
- Offical copies of documents: registrations (OC2) to apply for offical copies of documents relating to a specific property
Personal Inspection: registration (PIC)
You can make an application using form PIC for a personal inspection under section 66 of the Land Registration Act 2002. This is a statutory service you can use if you want to visit a Land Registry office to personally inspect the documents we have relating to a particular property.
- Every item you view incurs a fee which also entitles you to a copy of the document.
- A fee is payable for each item you view (either electronically or in paper form) but this also entitles you to a copy of the document.
- Send the completed form to our standard address.
Once we receive your application, we will contact you to discuss your request and the fee payable. It may take up to 10 working days from receipt of the form for us to contact you.
